And so it begins, after 21 hours in the air, 4 in-flight movies, lots of chapters read, a little sweet time with Jesus, and 4 airports later, I arrive to a beautiful city. The city I will call my home for the next 3 months. Unaware of who was going to pick me up and if they will even be at the airport to pick me up when I arrived, I patiently waited, and prayed. I had no clue what or who I was looking for in the airport of my new home. 30 minutes later..Terry walked up with his YWAM sign..you can believe how thankful I was. As we picked up another student, Joey (my new thrifting buddy who is a surfer from San Diego) along with Daniel ( another staffer) we headed back to the base. For the next few hours, I began to become more comfortable with my surroundings…learning names will probably be the biggest challenge for me at this point.
Terry and his wife are on staff here. They are both wonderful people and I can already tell that I am going to have quite the friendship with them. As there are also a lot of amazing other people that I have aready met. A little overwhelming…yes but amazing non the less.
My living quarters are quite interesting but definitely to be expected. I live in big room with about 30 other girls. Bottom bunk makes me think of Kenzie and LTSP 2008. Bringing me back to these memories helps me to realize that I’ll be fine here. That 30 girls can’t be that bad right! Right! Its going to be awesome to see what God does in these girls lives.
Tomorrow its off to explore the city. Spending some sweet time with Jesus and learning more bout the people I will be surrounded with for 6 months. Father, let me be more outgoing. Let me have more energy. Let me ask more questions. Let me remember more names!!
Until we chat again. God is good.
I’ll leave you with two verses, the first one is one that Terry gave to me after he was praying for me, the second is one that God has been revealing to me the last few days as I have been traveling and journaling.
Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
Isaiah 58:11
The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land (Australia & Mexico City) and will strength your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose water never fail.
